BILLINGS - A Billings native is getting back to her theatrical roots performing in an upcoming show at Billings Studio Theatre.

"My first lead role was right here on this stage at Billings Studio Theatre," Lysa Fox said.

Lysa Fox began her theater career as a teenager in Billings. "It will always be home and this is where I feel like I learned how to be an artist so to be able to be back in my home town is really awesome," Fox said.

Lysa co-founded the Venture Theatre downtown, working there as a teacher and director. "The best. No one's a better teacher than her," co-star Kelly Martin said. "She certainly has brought up the majority of the young actors in this town for sure. So it's great to have her back."

She just received her Masters of Fine Arts in Long Beach, California, spent the summer traveling the country directing shows, and is back to direct and perform a show in Billings. "She's one of those actors you love being on stage with," Martin said.

The show is called "The Last Five Years" and opens first week in August at the Billings Studio Theater. "The music is fantastic and it's not that often that you get to see Lysa anymore so I mean it's a wonderful show and I think that people will really enjoy it," Martin said.

Lysa returns to her hometown an advocate for the performing arts and with a message for the community. "I just want to encourage people in Billings to keep doing it, keep supporting the arts because it's so important," Fox said.

Lysa’s is a story of success and she hopes to encourage young performers to keep dreaming and stay involved in theater. "I'm really glad to be out in a bigger market and doing some new things now, but Billings will always be home and I hope that I can always come back," Fox said.

"The Last Five Years" opens August 6 at the Billings Studio Theatre and runs through August 15. For more information and box office numbers click on Connections.
