Series of Skyview Fights Caught on Tape

BILLINGS - A series of fights with students from Skyview High School were caught on tape and posted to the internet.

One of the fights happened in Skyview's hallways on Wednesday. Two students have been suspended for that incident. That video was posted on YouTube Wednesday and has since been taken down.

The videos are similar to two other videos posted by the same user that show fights from the fall of 2011. Under the description, the user says the fight is "staged" but the hits look real.

The video shows kids fighting, ripping shirts, and throwing punches all while several students record the altercation. School officials say the two videos were not taken on school property.

Superintendent Jack Copps says kids encouraging other kids to fight will not be tolerated. Copps also says the fights may have been staged.

It's says the fights were staged, the kids doing it are willing participants not kids getting jumped, picked on, or bullied. Stop trying to control every aspect of other peoples lifes and manage your own. You don't like it don't watch it. This is still America, the supposed land of the free, let's at least pretend to still care about personal freedoms and expression...

I don't understand how you guys are saying it was off school property. They just said there was a simular video that took place in the hallways. Sounds like maybe billings should be looking more into stuff like boxing and MMA for the students if that is the kind of things they like to do. Put it in a controlled enviroment and there you go, no more fighting.

You must understand that the school is responsible for a student until they get home from school. if it was on weekend no problem.

i agree off school property so nothing the school can do its up to the parents and the police if anyone should be worried about it they should be the ones.

Katrina and Matt, the problem with both your responses is that some whining parents would then turn around and sue the school district for not stopping this. Look around school districts are getting ALL the blame for anything that regards “a student”. Then the taxpayers complain that they have to pay the money to settle the suit. I do agree with both your statements, but both should take place without consequences for the school, district or teachers. I would be surprised if these students do not sue, and win, a claim against the school for infringing on their rights. It sure is a great country with everybody just suing to get by.

if it wasn't on school property there is nothing the school district can do about it.... boys will be boys and since it was in their free time and not on school property it falls on the shoulders of the parents for allowing their boys sot do this..... the wednesday fight is the only one that the school district can worry about...

If the boys want to brawl, put some gloves on them, put them in a ring, get an impartial ref, and keep things safe. Let them get their licks in and shake hands afterwards.
