BILLINGS - School District 2 has a new bus contractor for their out-of-town high school activities. Superintendent Jack Copps said the district would now switch to Coach America from Rimrock Stages.

Copps said Rimrock asked to be let out of its contract. He said the decision is not related to Friday, January 27th's, accident of a Rimrock charter carrying the West High School girls' basketball team. Copps said Rimrock has several buses out of commission and says it can't provide the level of service required by the district.

"The coaches that are available to us from the new provider are very adequate," Copps said. "In fact they're newer than the others that were available before. So we aren't skipping a beat here."

The new contract with Coach America will cost the district about 3% more for charter services. Copps said students would ride on Coach America buses the first weekend in February for out-of-town activities. He said four people suffered minor injuries in January 27th's accident.

I find that hard to believe that January incident had nothing to do with it. This coming from the SD2 spin Doctor himself.
