Rehberg Explains Suit

BILLINGS - Congressman Denny Rehberg is explaining his decision to file a lawsuit against the City of Billings.

Rehberg Ranch, LLC filed suit Friday afternoon, exactly two years after the fire started in the Rehberg Ranch development. The statute of limitations for this type of case is two years.

In a statement released Wednesday, Rehberg said the Rehberg Ranch, LLC was asking the city for a 30- to 60-day extension to file an insurance claim for property damage that would be used for future development. He said the city was unresponsive.

"This in no way, shape or form is reflective of the firefighters. I love them I've worked with them," Rehberg said. "You wouldn't blame the soldier for decisions made in the Pentagon and I certainly don't blame the firefighters for the decision made in City Hall."

City officials said they were not contacted about the extension until last Monday, four days before the deadline. The City Council decided not to grant the extension at that time. Officials said the City's insurance carrier has assigned a claims investigator to the case and they are working to collect information. They expect a lawyer to be assigned to the case by the end of the week.

Denny, who often has lamented "Big Government", is now suing government because it wasn't big enough to suit him. Hypocrite!

Hows that golf course and equestrian center working out Denny? $50 Million in net assets not enough to hold you over till the the "Loop" payoff. Tell you what Denny you pay to keep the brush cust and cleaned up on YOUR income generating property or YOU can pay for a private fire team next time. You have a little DC on your chin Denny!

When did being a public figure preclude you from taking part in the American legal system?

Just the latest in a line of sue happy people. Given that its an election year you would have thought he would have taken the high road knowing vegetation grows back. My vote is gone.
