BILLINGS - Dozens of brave souls took a plunge into 34-degree Lake Elmo Saturday afternoon for a good cause.

The annual Polar Bear Plunge took place to raise money for the Montana Special Olympics. Teams jumped in the near freezing lake water one by one for the cause. Billings is just one of eight cities in the state holding this event. Statewide more than $40,000 was raised for the athletes.

The next ice-cold swim is the Penguin Plunge taking place in Whitefish in February.
