BILLINGS - School has barely started for students at Rocky Mountain College, but on Thursday, more than 20 students said goodbye to their college careers.

The students in Rocky's Physician Assistant Studies Program donned their white coat in a ceremony on Thursday, symbolizing their transition from college student to a medical professional. Commencement speakers reminded the graduates to care about their patients first, as well as praising their achievements over the past two years.

Graduates say the day was a long time coming.

"I never had a free weekend," said Heather Henson, "I was studying all the time, and then during the second year, some of us worked 60-hour weeks. We were always putting in 100-hour work weeks with studying and work and everything."

Program Director Bob Wilmouth said most of the students will practice in their home state, but about 20% of the graduates will end up working in cities and towns across Montana, with some helping to increase the quality of rural medical care in the state.
