Musician Sings for Children at St. Vincent Healthcare

BILLINGS - Some say music is the best medicine, and that was the case Wednesday at St. Vincent Healthcare. Twin City musician James Hersch traveled from one room to another at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Wednesday.

He sang everything from the ABC's to the Winnie the Pooh theme song. Hersh said music could encourage children to heal.

"Music engages kids in a way, it brings their emotions into play," said Hersh, "It also distracts them from maybe their pain or some of the discomfort they might be feeling. I sing for their families, just because music in this circumstance can be a powerful thing."

Hersche will be at MSU Billings Wednesday night performing for a student volunteer group.

I love stories like this. Music does encourage and distract from pain and aids in healing. Hooray for James Hersche! http://www.musicforkids.com
