Montana COTs to Change Names

BILLINGS - The Montana University System wants help renaming the state's five Colleges of Technology.

The schools in Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, and Missoula are expanding their programming and extending their missions to include more workforce and community development. Education officials are looking for names to better reflect the schools' new goals, so they are conducting a survey to get name suggestions. The state Board of Regents will then narrow down the suggestions and vote on the final names.

"The College of Technology brand, as it exists today, does not accurately reflect this increased mission," said John Cech, the Deputy Commissioner for Two-Year and Community College Education. "So we're excited about listening to and receiving feedback from the community to help us determine a better name."

Education officials have collected 500 completed surveys so far. Click on Connections for a link to the website and share your suggestions.
