BILLINGS - A man who allegedly fled the scene of a single-vehicle accident that killed his passenger appeared in court Monday.

Twenty-three year-old, Justin Dale Kiger, pled not guilty to negligent homicide, failure to remain at an accident, and tampering with physical evidence.

Kiger allegedly crashed his friend's car into a building, killing his 23-year-old friend, Jack Ryan Harris, on December 4th.

Kiger's public defender asked the court to reduce his $100,000.00 bond to $25,000.00, but after reviewing Kiger's criminal history Judge Gregory Todd Baugh denied the request.

Kiger's next court appearance is set for a later date.

jack harris was my best friend and i was there and he didnt have the balls to even look at me or jacks late wife in the face and i have known kiger for quite a long time and yes i know that jack shouldnt have let kiger drive and all that but kiger is such a coward that he ran away from the scene if he was even half of a man he would have stayed at the scene and been willing to face up to the music then and there but it has always been kigers way to run and hide and not accept responsibility to step up for any of the wrongs that he has ever done and if they let him out he will just continue to do the same thing he is a waste of life and he took away the best man i have ever known he doesnt feel remorse for anything he did or else he wouldnt have pleaded not guilty if he was sorry he would have manned up and taken responsibility but he wont ever change no matter how many slaps on the wrist he gets if you knew his past history you wouldnt have one iota of sympathy for this waste of a huma

Really now? You're going to judge him THAT harshly? 90% of us have driven drunk. That's just how it goes. It's a shame what happened, but YOU could very well be in the same boat too. Don't even pretty like you're so high and mighty. You could have killed YOUR best friend last weekend when you were driving home drunk. Give the kid a break. His life will be miserable as is - Knowing his close friend is dead because of him. You people irritate me. It's partially Jack's fault as well. He knew Kiger was drunk; yet he still got in the car. Should have found a different ride.

How many of you ever driven drunk and were lucky enough to make it home? You don't think this kid doesn't regret and feel terrible? I don't deny he doesn't need punishment but killing him is going to deffinately never going to be something he forgets and will haunt him for the rest of his life wishing it would have been him instead!

Ya jack got in the car but when u r wasted u do not have the ability to judge any situation logically! He should get the max! The driver shouldn't drive in the first place knowing he's hammered! Kiger has past duis and is known as trouble but keeps getting a slap on the wrist! Jack was worth more than kigers life!

I understand friends and family are grieving, but Jack got in the car with a drunk driver. If he was responsible, he would have found alternate transportation. Sorry if that sounds cruel, but it's part of the story.

Kiger you piece of work you killed my friend he had three kids! You took their daddy away I hope you live the rest of your life knowing that you took something like that away and tried denying it!!!!

thank goodness that judge baugh has enough sense to keep this murderer in jail and not let him go.If this punk was man enough to murder his friend then he should be man enough to accept the concequences that follow. He murderd someones child and he says im not guilty? i hope they throw the kitchen sink at you and that you never get to taste freedom again you PUNK!!!!!!!!
