BILLINGS - Wheat production in Montana is the highest it's been in a generation, according to Governor Brian Schweitzer.

The governor previewed his 2011 state budget Wednesday afternoon at MSU-B. The overall budget increased to $1.8 billion, comprised mostly of educational, corrections, and healthcare spending.

Schweitzer sees the large crop season as one of many indicators the state will stay in the black.

"The future has never been brighter for Montana," he said, "Whether we're talking about all those wind turbines being built and transmission lines, or we're talking about the play on the Bakken and the oil production or the coal revenue with the Otter Creek tracks, some five to seven billion dollar shot in the arm."

Montana currently has a budget surplus of $327 million.
