BILLINGS - The national egg recall due to salmonella contamination has been extended to Montana.

Sparboe Farms in Litchfield, Minnesota is voluntarily recalling eggs produced by two Iowa egg farms because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.

The FDA identified Walmart stores in Billings, Laurel, and Miles City as receiving the recalled eggs, as well as eight Walmart stores in wyoming. All Walmarts in the Billings area said that they have either disposed of the eggs or never received them.

Albertsons in Montana and Wyoming did not receive these eggs, said a regional spokesperson.

Consumers with questions should visit www.eggsafety.org or call the Egg Safety Media Hotline at 404-367-2761.

State officials said no one in Montana has been infected with salmonella so far, and no salmonella eggs have been produced in Montana.

About 1,500 people nationwide have been sickened by salmonella allegedly from eggs produced at Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms. Half a billion eggs have been recalled.
