BILLINGS - The Billings Chamber of Commerce is looking to acquire a state contract to promote tourism for Custer Country.

Thirteen counties and two Indian Reservations are within the region in southeastern Montana. The Chamber said promoting Custer Country would also help tourism efforts in Billings.

"Promote destination as a preferred travel area as well as work with regional partners to help improve Billings," said Chamber of Commerce President John Brewer.

Custer Country lost its contract after state investigators determined leaders of the non-profit broke state contracting laws and then lied about it to its own members and the state. A new contract will be awarded October first.
