BILLINGS - Billings police responded to Burlington Elementary School Thursday afternoon after a school official spotted a man with two dogs on the school playground trying to interact with students.

As a precaution, the school went into lockdown after the man refused to leave. He was taken by ambulance off school property. Principal Kyra Gaskill said extra safety precautions were made at the end of the day to make sure all the students were safe including extra police presence.

Superintendent Jack Copps said letters were sent home with all 340 students to notify parents of the incident. "We want to make sure that every kid is safe, and so any time that something comes close to this, we are quick to respond. We hope we're doing the right thing, that kids are okay," Superintendent Jack Copps said.

Billings Police Lieutenant Mark Cady said the man was taken to the hospital for an unknown medical condition. No charges were filed and the situation ended without incident. Superintendent Copps said they do not believe the man meant any harm.

Evidently, he was on the playground without permission, wouldn't leave when asked. Kids heard him screaming while they were trying to get him to leave! He had been telling kids he needed someone to take care of his dogs; officials feared he was suicidal. An elementary school was not the best place for him at the time!

Okay, this does not make any sense... he was on the property with 2 dogs, interacting with kids, and then the next thing we know he is being carted off the property by an ambulance? But, it does not say he went to the hospital? We are missing a few facts here.
