BILLINGS - A Billings native is changing the music world through invention. Jason Harrelson has created a new kind of trumpet based on physics.

Jason is a Senior High graduate and played in the school band when he fell in love with playing the trumpet. During college, the music major and physics minor discovered a way to build a more efficient trumpet. Jason is also a performer and has toured with bands such as Duran Duran.

"At Senior High I sat last chair in the band, I was the worst trumpet player in the world," he said, "I practiced and my teacher at the time really inspired me to play trumpet and before I knew it I was a trumpet major in college," he said.

Jason makes 250 trumpets a year in his Minnesota factory and continues to perform across the country.
