BILLINGS - A conference on workplace safety and emergency preparedness drew several hundred people from throughout the region to Billings Wednesday.

The conference covered topics ranging from preparing for weather disasters, to addressing workplace safety risks, and even First Aid certification. And as history has shown, Montana could use some improvement when it comes to addressing workplace safety.

"Montana has always had an extremely high incidence of injuries, and high workers comp rates, and we're here to try to promote safety to all public and private organizations and entities," said Greg Roadifer, the executive director of the Montana Safety Services Council.

Montana has consistently ranked last in the nation when it comes to issues concerning workplace safety.
