BILLINGS - One Billings’ police officer is being honored for her work in the community and throughout the state.

Tina Hoeger has been named the Montana American Legion Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Her community service activities including work with the Montana Special Olympics makes her a leader.

"It's especially significant to me because a lot of it is for the athletes for Special Olympics, Torch Run, and also the work that I do for victims in the community of domestic violence," she said, "the work that I do is what drives me, so this award is just going to be icing on the cake."

Officer Hoeger will travel to Miles City Friday morning for the award ceremony. This is a prestigious and very competitive award that also nominates her for the National Officer of the Year that will be announced in September.
