Youth Gather for Service
BILLINGS- Dozens gathered Saturday morning at the Salvation Army to take part in Global Youth Service Day.

Local service groups helped make the community cleaner by getting their hands dirty. Kids painted recycle bins that will be in downtown Billings and donation barrels for the food bank.

Flowers were donated and girl scouts painted pots to help make the area brighter. Donna Gurnic and fellow Americorps volunteers planned the event to bring Earth awareness to youngsters in the community.

"We could use more recycling projects and really get the kids involved because there are so many kids here in Billings," she said, "they really have the opportunity to make a difference in communities and start at a young age to live a life of service and community service."

Gurnic hopes the event will be embraced by the community and become an annual event.
