BILLINGS - Montana is in the top ten of state's receiving pork-barrel projects according to a nonpartisan, government watchdog group.

Citizens Against Government Waste released its annual report Wednesday finding nearly 9,100 projects at a cost of $16.5-billion in the federal budget. That is less than last year when the group priced it at about $20-billion.

The Pig Book shines the light on how members of the U.S. Congress use the earmarking process to steer money to projects in their districts. The report said Hawaii leads the nation in pork spending per capita.

Montana ranks number seven with $102.4-million identified by the group. Wyoming has the lowest with$ 6.7-million. A project must meet certain criteria to qualify for the Pig Book.

we deserve federal dollars since they own a large part of the state for the good of all.
