BILLINGS - It was a night to give back to those officers. Thursday night was a chance for the community to remind Billings area law enforcement just how important they really are.

Chaplains with the Billings Police Department hosted the Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Banquet.

More than 60 members of the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department, Billings Police Department and the Montana Highway Patrol were on hand for the event.

Local restaurants and stores donated gift certificates to give back and give their thanks.

“Often they work with 1-2% of sometimes the worst part of society and it can kind of skewer their attitude towards the public,” said Joel Rockstad, chaplain with the Billings Police Department.

Rockstad said it’s events like this that are meant to help remind officers of the community members who care.
