Window Burglaries

BILLINGS - Warmer weather brings increased opportunity for crime against your home and yourself.

Wednesday was a perfect day to open up windows and let the breeze in, but Sergeant Kevin Iffland of the Billings Police Department is reminding homeowners to take precautions while enjoying the weather. He said to avoid opening ground-level windows in case you forget to close them when you leave the house.

“Accessibility makes it easier for the criminal if there’s no locks or any other obstacle in their way,” said Iffland.

Iffland also suggests purchasing locks for your ground-floor windows.
