BILLINGS - The Dalai Lama has apparently accepted an invitation to come to Montana.

The head of state and the spiritual leader of Tibet will visit the Garden of 1,000 Buddhas in Arlee to declare it sacred. Leaders with Ewam Montana said the Dalai Lama is expected to come to the state next year.

The garden is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011. It will feature 1,000 Buddha statues as well as another larger statue.

The garden is intended for all people as a place that instills peace. Details of the Dalai Lama's visit to Montana will be announced at a news conference Friday in Missoula.
