BILLINGS - A 40-year-old man is recovering after falling from the Rims Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews say Lou Kelly was repelling in Zimmerman Park when something went wrong with his gear, and he fell 20 to 30 feet. EMTs and members of the Billings Fire Department carried him out on a stretcher. Fire officials say Kelly is stable, and did not sustain life-threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Billings Clinic.

Officials with the Fire Department say it is very important to be cautious up on the Rims.

"Just make sure that you're with somebody else, somebody who really knows what they're doing, so that everything can be as safe as possible," Billings Fire Department Captain Tom Harvey said. "That way when you do things like this up in the Rims, you can take every precaution that you can."

A friend of the victim says Kelly suffered a laceration to his forehead, but appeared lucid after the fall.
