BILLINGS - Hundreds of Billings residents were looking a little green on Saturday for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade.

Music, sirens and laughter filled the air in downtown Billings Saturday morning as hundreds of people celebrated Irish culture with the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. More than 70 groups participated in the parade, capturing the attention of people of all ages. Mariah Jackson said, "My favorite part was the big trucks because they look like the transformers."

The St. Patrick's Day festivities didn't end with the parade, hundreds of Billings residents gathered under skypoint to enjoy the Celtic street fair. Dozens of vendors lined the street of Broadway with booths featuring tasty foods, activities for the whole family, and live music.

Billings resident Kevin Heaney said events like this are vital to the community. "Its bringing a ton of vibrancy to the down town area, bringing everybody down here, it fosters a lot of community spirit."

A spirit that Kathy Wise said everybody shares on the Celtic holiday. "Everybody's Irish on St. Patty's Day. And its just one of those fun things that breaks the monotony of the winter. It's a nice entry into the spring season and people are out and it feels good and the sun's shining and its just a great day outside."

All of the proceeds from Saturday's events were donated to Big Sky Senior Services to help low-income senior citizens in the community.
