Montana Snowpack

BILLINGS - Officials are saying Montana’s snowpack is well under average and also below last year’s average at this time.

So far this year the snowpack is down about 10%.

The Montana Natural Resources Conservation Service reports that the snowpack statewide is only 68%. Whereas at this time last year, snowpack was 79%

If snowpacks stay low, come spring time we could see reduced river flows which could cause droughts. The NRCS said snowpack peaks are usually reached the first to middle of April.
