BILLINGS - Time is running out for anyone seeking public office this year for Montana’s 2010 primary elections.

The deadline for candidates to file with the Secretary of State or county election office is March 15th, by 5 p.m.

Monday was the deadline for some candidates, including independents and minor parties, to turn in their petitions to have their names placed on the ballot.

In January, Secretary of State Linda McCulloch reported 106 candidates filed for office, nearly doubling first-day filings from 2008. A total of 274 candidates have filed so far.
