Home Improvement Show

BILLINGS - MetraPark Expo Center is crammed with people looking for ways to improve their homes this weekend. This year's event features some interesting exhibits to add style, and even a little fire, to your home.

Some backyards have fountains, but backyards done by the Witt Works landscaping company have fountains that spew fire. Their bubbling boulder is just one of the attractions at the Home Improvement Show this year.

"We've had several people look into it," Witt Works owner Steven Witt said. "We'll see after the show how many follow through, but we've had really good luck with it. Really good luck."

The show has exhibits for all parts of the home, from fancy entertainment systems to garden clippers that amplify your arm strength by seven times.

"I like Billings because the people here come from a great distance," Florian Ratchet Cut representative Wayne Hilton said. "They appreciate the vendors who come and try hard to work for them and bring unusual stuff you wouldn't see in stores."

The Home Improvement Show is the biggest one in the five-state area. Show organizers said this year's show might break some records, and that is good news for the local economy.

"Eighty-five percent of exhibitors come right from good old Billings, Montana," show promoter Mark Hedin said. "And what that means is the business generated stays here in our local economy, which keeps it stimulated."

The show runs all weekend long, and wraps up Sunday evening. Doors open Sunday at 10 a.m.
