Rehberg Opposes Designation

By Greg LaMotte

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana congressman Denny Rehberg is strongly opposed to the potential national monument designation.

Rehberg calls it a naked abuse of power by the White House with no regard to the views of the people of Montana. The congressman has been a vocal opponent of a similar effort to lock up millions of acres through the northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act. Rehberg says Montanans don't mince words when it comes to what he calls unilateral federal land grabs.

"Some of this land belongs to private citizens who have no idea the federal government is planning to kick them off their ranches. If the government can do this to them, what can it do to you?" said Rehberg.

Rehberg says Montanans want federal bureaucrats to keep their hands off our state.
