BILLINGS - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yellowstone County faces major budget concerns after being denied two federal grants.

Big Brothers Big Sisters leadership says they've had to cut two positions after the federal government decided to target its grants to programs in urban areas.

Executive director Becky Webber says Billings shouldn't have been overlooked.

Webber says, “We were very unhappy and sad to see that we were not selected to see these grants. None of the rural areas were able to receive these grants. Even though we might not be a big city, we still have big city problems.”

The group hopes to deal with some of those issues by holding fundraisers in the near future.

"Funk Fest" will be the first of these events and will take place at the Yellowstone Valley Brewing Company later this month.
