BILLINGS - Jury selection began Monday in Yellowstone County in the trial of a Billings man accused of murdering three people.

Forty-seven-year-old Richard Covington is accused of the September 2006 murders of Patti Hubbert, Norman Leighton and Gerald Morris, all from the Billings area.

Jury selection is expected to run through Thursday as lawyers consider 500 potential jurors. The selection process had started a few weeks ago but was postponed due to the discovery of new evidence.

Covington is currently serving a 40-year prison term for an armed robbery case not related to the murder charges.
