Super Bowl Food

BILLINGS - Everyone knows Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for sports, but it is a big day for local restaurants as well. Restaurants in Billings have been preparing for weeks for football's biggest day.

Football fans know that it wouldn't be Super Bowl Sunday without the parties and tailgates, and that means lots of pizza, wings, and beer. At Buffalo Wild Wings, Marketing Director Mike Bilansky said they look forward to Super Bowl Sunday all year long.

"Super Bowl Sunday is one of our biggest days of the year," Bilansky said. "We'll do about a ton of wings, and 40% of that will be in takeout orders alone."

And he means an actual ton. Buffalo Wild Wings stocked more than 2,000 pounds of wings for the Super Bowl party, and they started taking to-go orders three weeks ago.

"We should have a full house about 3. They like to get here about an hour early to get a table and start going through their pre-game rituals, what beer to drink, what wings to try, and seeing what side of the room will be for the Saints, and what side will be for the Colts."

And local pizza fans kept the ovens busy at Old Chicago. Managers said they had been planning for the Super Bowl for weeks.

"We stocked up on everything, extra beer, extra food, we're ready," Old Chicago Bar Manager Travis Wagner said. "But if we run out, it's a good thing because it means we were extremely, extremely busy."

The U.S.D.A. says Americans will eat more on Super Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the year except Thanksgiving. Last year, that added up to more than 166 million pounds of snacks.
