BILLINGS - A Billings teen who shot a police officer in the face with a BB gun is sentenced to 10 years in prison.

As part of a plea agreement, 17-year-old Jacob Walles had admitted to assaulting a peace officer. At sentencing Thursday, court officials said he will likely spend time at the Pine Hills Correctional Facility until he turns 18, at that point he'll be transferred to the Montana State Prison.

After a foot chase in March of last year, police said Walles shot Officer Shane Sheldon. A BB lodged in Sheldon's jaw, requiring hospital treatment.

Walles is also ordered pay $1,600 dollars in restitution to cover Sheldon's medical bill. Sheldon has since recovered and is back to work on the police force.
