BILLINGS - The Billings chapter of Soroptimist International held their annual Evening of Wine and Roses Saturday.

The nonprofit organization held a wine tasting and silent auction at the Billings Depot, raising money to help local women. Proceeds from the event will go toward 4 scholarships for high school and college students; and the Bright Eyes Backpack program, which provides food for area children in need.

"It is very rewarding giving back to the community, to help underprivileged women and children get back on their feet," Soroptimist Billings Chair Dawn Schulz said. "We also have scholarships that we give for passages for a culinary program, and to see those women grow and be able to talk to us as a group is very rewarding."

Saturday night's event raised more than $20,000 dollars for local charities.
