BILLINGS - The Republican National Committee Chairman is calling for a Senate Ethics Committee Investigation after Senator Max Baucus nominated his girlfriend for a position as Montana's U.S. Attorney.

A spokesman for Sen. Baucus said Baucus submitted resumes of six people including his girlfriend Melodee Hanes.

In a statement released Saturday, Baucus said he appointed an independent, third-party reviewer to narrow the list. The Associated Press is reporting that person was Dana Christensen, a Montana lawyer who contributed $3,400 dollars to Baucus' political campaigns.

Hanes later withdrew her name because she and Baucus wanted to live together in Washington.

Well, I suppose it could be worse. Look at our vice governor of this state- nominally a Republican, yet remarried mere monthes after his wife died of cancer. Politics has got to be the dirtiest of all public positions when it comes to sex scandals. Like they say in Politics- "Never get caught with a live boy or a dead girl".
