BILLINGS - Ethnic wars in Southeast Asia have forced thousands to flee their homes over the last several years, but a team of Montana and Wyoming residents are trying to change that.

The Wyoming based group, Vision Beyond Borders, recently returned from Thailand, where they delivered medical supplies, food and clothing to more than 150,000 Karen refugees.

Director of vision beyond borders, Patrick Klein, said the Karen people are fleeing from the Burmese government who is attempting to wipe out the entire group.

"Here's these people who are very, very poor, not much education, they're just trying to survive and they're being run out of their own country, they just want to live in peace," said Klein.

The group plans to return to Thailand with more supplies later this month.
