BILLINGS - The holiday season is here and that means Christmas lights and holiday cheer. It also means its time for the Nutcracker Ballet. The New Idaho Ballet is in Billings to put on the show with fresh faces and an anxious crew.

Performers took the stage for an early dress rehearsal Saturday morning before their first performance Saturday night. The New Idaho Ballet has teamed up with the Billings Symphony this year to put on the Nutcracker Ballet.

With almost a sold out show of 1,400 tickets sold, the cast and crew were excited to get this show on the road. One dancer for the Idaho Ballet said the company is thrilled to perform Billings.

"Its just an enjoyable experience with all of my friends and co-workers here to put on a great production in a wonderful city," said Steven Bain of Ballet Idaho.

The production is also showcasing some homegrown talent. Kierra Egger of Billings said being selected to play Clara was a surprise.

“So originally I didn't try out for Clara I was gonna be a party girl, but he took me after class and talked told me, so now I’m Clara."

Kiera says this is a once a lifetime opportunity. "I’m really excited for my family to watch me cause this is a huge deal for me and im so excited."

The company says they're switching things up to give the show a fresh feel. "This season we're trading up spaces to keep it fresh and new and its really individual performances that adds that different feel to the nutcracker," said Bain.
