PBR Boost Economy

By Sarah Gravlee

BILLINGS - Paulo Crimber won the PBR in Billings this weekend, but the city of Billings was also a big winner following the rodeo. The PBR brought in fans from all over the West, and those fans brought along their wallets and pocket books.
Linda Gallagher, the vice-chair of the Yellowstone Lodging Association said this and other weekend events boosted bookings at local hotels. "On Friday afternoon before 3 p.m., my assistant manager called every hotel in Billings and there was not one single room available for anyone," Gallagher said.
Restaurants throughout town also benefited from the influx of people. Jamie Eldridge, the manager of Applebee's in the heights said it's all about location.
"It doesn't matter what's going on at the Metra," he said. "We get quite a few more people in here, but when the PBR's in town, it's even more so."
The general manager of Metra Park said more than 16,000 people attended the PBR this weekend.
