PBR Benefit

By Sarah Gravlee

BILLINGS - Some local PBR fans got the chance to meet the cowboys Saturday, but there was one cowboy missing. About four weeks ago a bull stepped on one of the cowboy's heads. Lee Akin was that unfortunate cowboy. He was in a coma for a few weeks. His condition is still critical, but he did come out of his comma and is on the road to recovery.
The PBR held a benefit for Akin Saturday. About 150 people came. Each of them donated $25 dollars to a fund that will help the family pay for everything from medical costs to travel expenses. Cody Custer, member of the PBR board said all the bull-riders and their families look out for each other.
"We all know each other and we spend a lot of time together and we're all friends," Custer said. "We kind of know what's going on in each other's lives. We kind of end up being brothers rather than competitors against each other."
Custer said if you want to help you can keep praying, but they're also holding a large benefit for akin at this year's world finals. They're hoping to raise a couple million dollars there.
