Rehberg Reacts to Ad

BILLINGS - Congressman Denny Rehberg is speaking out against a political ad that is targeting him.

The ad accuses Rehberg of taking campaign contributions from oil officials and then voting against legislation that would encourage alternative energy production. It is in favor of legislation that would place mandatory limits on greenhouse gas emissions and tax companies that do not comply.

Rehberg said he voted against the legislation, because Montana's economy depends on oil, gas, and coal. He added that he supports many kinds of energy production.

"What I've continually attempted to do is support an all of the above solution," he said. "We still need oil gas coal and nuclear, but we also want to encourage wind solar geothermal biomass."

The ad was paid for by the DC-based group "League of Conservation Voters" and is also being run in five other states.

Yeah there are no jobs to be had developing and producing alternatives to the dwindling supplies of coal and oil are there? It makes more sense not to plan at all, burn up what is left without a coversion or weaning process and see what happens when it's all over. I'm mean it's not like planning for the future would be prudent or anything it's much better just to pretend that fossil fuels are limitless and experts in the field are stupid. Conservatives used to be conservative, what happened?

It never fails- the same people that are complaining about his support of the coal, oil and natural gas industry are the same ones that are gonna cry when the jobs vanish. You cant have it both ways, especially while driving your gas guzzling SUV to a protest!

ye-haw go Denny! No regard for the future, who needs it anyway? So what if we have already passed peak oil and coal production and it will only get more expensive to extract from here on out? S crew the future, live for today 'cause it's a heap easier and don't require no thinking!

Atta Boy Denny, stay with the oil and coal. I have never heard of such stupid legislation called Cap and Trade (tax). What’s wrong with the Gore morons? Stay in there and fight these scoundrels. I say thanks to the idiots of the world for running that AD. I like it, we depend on Coal and Oil. When will people wise up? Thanks again. Tom Treadwell
