H1N1 Booster Concerns

BILLINGS - A limited supply and a large demand contribute to a delay in children's booster shots for the H1N1 virus.

Health officials recommend children age 2-to-9 get a second, or booster, H1N1 vaccination. Local health officials say booster shots have still not arrived but if children have already received the first dose they have a little time for the second.

The CDC recommends a booster shot be taken at least four weeks after the original shot, but experts say a short delay is no problem.

"If its 60 days later that's alright, if its 90 days later that's alright, getting the second shot is important for protection this year but not only this year next year as well," said Dr. David Graham.
