BILLINGS - Six months ago the Montana's Women's Run promoted health and fitness with a 5-mile race in downtown Billings. Tuesday, organizers of the event donated $60,000 dollars in proceeds to six causes.

The funds were given to the YWCA, Billings Clinic Foundation, Yellowstone Rim Runners, Rocky Mountain College and MSU-Billings women's cross-country scholarship programs and the Billings YMCA.

The Billings Clinic Foundation plans to use the money to help uninsured women.

"Very often the women that we serve, they have not had any testing, whether it be pap smears or mammograms for many years," said Bev Reaver from Billings Clinic.

The Montana Women's Run celebrated its 28th anniversary this year with nearly 7,000 participants. It's one of the largest all women's races in the country.
