Copps to Retire

BILLINGS - The Billings School Board will begin a search for a new superintendent after hearing Monday night's shocking announcement from Jack Copps.

After serving in public education for nearly 50 years, Copps told the school board that he plans to retire at the end of the current school year. His last day will be June 30th.

Copps says he has no regrets and that the time is simply right to pass on the baton.

"My worst day will be my last day. And all of the days prior to that day I will enjoy as much as I have enjoyed all of the time that I have been in Billings. I will work as hard as I can. I will not count the days at all. I will just enjoy them." said Copps.

School board members say they'll create a committee at next weeks meeting that will focus on finding Copps' replacement.
