Anti-Bullying Program

BILLINGS - Recent studies show as many as 77% of students experience some form of bullying in the classroom or schoolyard. But Castle Rock Middle School is working to change that.

An assembly Monday capped off a week long, anti-bullying program and featured inspirational messages from several speakers, including Miss Rodeo Montana.

Officials also presented video clips centered on people and events that demonstrate courage, leadership and acceptance.

"They're great kids," said Principal Shaun Harrington. "We have huge potential in our staff and student body so we wanted it to come across as a positive message rather than the normal anti-bullying kind of approach."

Officials say other schools around the district plan to develop similar anti-bullying programs.

While I commend the schools for teaching anti-bully , it is still THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SD2 TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO LEARN!!! They seem to abdicate that responsibility more often than not and should be made to pay the piper for not disciplining their charges. Try calling their Mom, at work, and saying, "You must come and collect your child. S/he has been expelled from school for the day. Beginning NOW!
