BILLINGS - Rocky Mountain College officials hope to earn a quarter of a million dollars Friday night at their 22nd annual Black Tie Blue Jeans fundraiser.

Proceeds go toward student scholarship funds and party-goers bid on everything from fine art to clogs. Table sales were up at this year's event despite the down economy. In the past the event has raised up to $400,000 dollars.

Event organizer Shari VanDelinder said finances should never stop students from enrolling.

"If money is the issue we want to make sure that we can do whatever it takes to help them put their finances together,” she said, “everyone that wants to come to Rocky next year is going to be able to come because of this benefit."

This year's event celebrated Rocky champions of athletics and academics, but it began years ago as a cattle auction.
