School Bus Drivers

BILLINGS - Despite a potential strike by bus drivers, school busses will run as normal Monday morning.

Thursday night, teamsters rejected the contract offered by First Student, meaning 82 bus drivers in the Billings area could strike at any time. Late Friday afternoon, the union agreed to meet with a federal mediator on Tuesday.

Superintendent Jack Copps said they will keep parents informed of any developments.

"We know we need to get information to parents as quickly as we possible can," he said. "Yet we are not sitting at the table we don't know what's happening minute by minute, but fortunately we know that busses will run as normal on Monday of this coming week."

If bus service is interrupted, it could affect 82 bus routes, and hundreds of students. Many freshmen are also bussed between high schools, freshmen academies and the Career Center.
