BILLINGS - Despite hundreds of confirmed cases of H1N1, Montana health officials are still waiting for the first case of the seasonal flu.

State officials say it's still early to predict when we'll start to see our first cases but the seasonal flu usually starts to peak around February or March. Health officials say they're already testing for both Influenza A and H1N1.

Symptoms are very similar for the viruses and officials say some people might mistake one for the other. "More people are seeking medical care than before. It could happen when you have a confirmed case of seasonal influenza a sooner because folks are more aware of influenza circulation," said Montana Department Health and Human Service's Jon Ebelt.

Thousands of people are diagnosed with the seasonal flu in Montana every year.

My son was diagnosed the first week of October with the "Seasonal Flu" in the Walk In Clinic at St. Vincent in Billings. They did not test him. However, because they said they were sure he had it and it was not the "Swine Flu" because he was not vomiting or had diarrhea. They also said they were only treating people under 5, and the olderly so we had to rid eit out. I also caught this after. There are cases out there that are not being reported.
