BILLINGS - The U.S. Marshal Service joins the search for a former Billings bus driver accused of driving drunk and hitting a teenager.

Marshals say they're following several leads in the case against Tim Whalen. Last week, Yellowstone County Attorney Dennis Paxinos revealed Whalen may have left the state. Whalen faces four felonies after allegedly hitting a teenage pedestrian on Central Avenue while driving his route. Marshals say they have a high success rate in tracking down suspects.

"If we have a good lead we can forward that lead to an office where there's probably a Marshal Service Task Force and we can generally have that person apprehended within the hour," said U.S. Marshal Rod Ostermiller.

Court records say Whalen's blood alcohol level registered .118 several hours after the accident.
