Laptops for Soldiers

By Penny Preston

CODY, WY - A Cody woman is raising money to send laptop computers to soldiers at Walter Reed and other military hospitals. Her son served in Iraq. She thinks everyone should support the troops, no matter what they think about the war.
The Director of Laptops for the Wounded, a non-profit, says people have donated almost $29,000 so far. Laura Brown tells KULR-8 the money buys new laptops, and refurbishes old one. Brown says the wounded use them to keep in touch with family or watch TV or read. She says some who are brain-damaged use the laptops to communicate with the doctors and nurses. Brown said, "We've given Walter Reed now 24 of the 27 I have out there. They get the most. They have shown to be the most in need, from my contacts. I have two at Balboa, and one at Brooks."
