BILLINGS - A study by the National Association of Home Builders says new construction is vital for future economic growth in Billings.

The study finds homes built during 2008 generated millions of dollars in revenue to the community. Industry economists say contrary to what some believe new construction directly provides important services to every community.

"Lets at least begin the conversation by realizing we are better off when we have housing and the construction that goes along with it as long as there are jobs to back it up," said Economist Dr. Elliot Eisenberg.

Eisenburg says the Billings housing market overall ranks near the top compared to other markets with 100,000 people or more.
