BILLINGS - Yellowstone county health officials are seeing a number of school-aged kids with whooping cough.

It's highly contagious upper-repertory infection. Anyone with a cough for more than 14 days with post-cough vomiting or a "whoop" noise should see a doctor. It's treated with antibiotics.

Unvaccinated children are at the highest risk.

Most children are vaccinated between two months and six years of age. However, health officials say it doesn't guarantee immunity.

Health officials say they've been seeing an increase in the number of whooping cough cases over the past few years.
