BILLINGS - Walkers set out from Veterans Park Sunday in an effort to stop suicide.

The Out of Darkness Walk was set up by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in order to raise awareness and money. Half of the money raised Sunday will stay in-state and be used for research and education to prevent suicides.

Officials said the suicide rate is high in Montana, but with education and modern medicine it can be stopped. "It is one of the most preventable causes of death because it's usually due top a treatable mood disorder or mental illness," said Joan Nye, "and by having these out of the darkness walks, we bring mental health treatment out of the darkness. We also bring the stigma or losing someone to suicide out of the darkness."

About 370 people participated in Sunday's event. If you'd like to know more about the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention you can click here.

"[With] education and modern medicine it can be stopped." hahahahahahhahaa. Naive. The Human Condition IS a mental illness. Butchering people in War is simply business and dropping atomic weapons on entire cities is seen as completely logical and defendable in times of war. People en mass suffer from paranoid delusions aka Religion while killing others who do not share their delusion. We escape from the monotony of our lives through the taking of drugs, alcohol and watching TV.
